Step Two – Writing a Hypothesis

Be sure you hypothesis is written with the correct language (read the lab for tips)

Step Three – Designing an Experiment and Collecting Data

The next part of the lab helps you set up your experiment. Double-check the lecture if you need help with the difference between controls and variables.

The Metric System

If we were in class, you would conduct this part with your groups. Instead, we’ve provided some information. Click on the images if you’d like to make them larger.

Since we don’t have a sink to measure water online, I’m providing you these data. With that in mind, try to complete the equation using the steps outlined in the video

1 quart is ~946 ml

Hint: write out what you know on the side. What conversion factors will you need to use?

Temperature:

Folks tend to make this harder than it has to be. Read through the questions, think about what the question is asking. Here is an image of thermometers to help you out. (Try not to just google the answers)

Step Four: Gathering Data, Step Five: Reporting Your Results & Step Six: What Does it All Mean?

Results and Conclusion (Links to an external site.)results and conclusions

In these sections, we have provided data for you to graph and analyze. Be sure you read the directions as they are there to help!

Lastly, Why do we care?

In this class, we would really like you to think about what the information means. Use these questions as a way to write down what you think.
